The other day I said to my friend that I hate Spanish. She said that's racist. debatable. debated.
I don't like Spanish. I just don't like the way it sounds. It isn't a crime. I am also very tactful in my dislike for it. I don't openly proclaim it every time I hear someone say "hola". I don't scream at Rafael Nadal to go back to Mexico where he belongs. I'm just a normal person that happens to think one particular language is unappealing to the ears.
I do like Italian (Spanish v0.3beta) and French. I really enjoy watching movies in those languages, such as "The Secret in their Eyes" and the Red, Blue and White trilogy. But the point that I am really trying to get at here after covering all the bases is that I absolutely hate it when people, Chef Gordon Ramsey exclusive, correctly pronounce "croissants" in the original French. I don't go around rubbing in peoples faces that I can correctly pronounce "ka ra okay", or any other English loanword. Now I can understand correctly pronouncing "creme brulee" or many other french cooking words, but "croissants" is the one that gets me. I won't promise that it is not jealousy of the fact that I am terrible at French, and can't correctly say the word my self. I just think that its unnecessary to use the french word for croissants, when we already have the English word "croissants" to use for them.
